4 Year Old-Awesome Ants
On Monday, we learned about ants. We decided that we like black ants the best because they don't bite like the red ones. But we still step on ants when we see them. I guess it's just part of the circle of life. We made our own ant hills by making paths of glue on paper and pouring sand on it. Then we put ants on the paper (fake, of course.) Then we became awesome ants ourselves.

4 Year Old-Apples Up On Top
Today, we read "Ten Apples Up On Top." It's such a simple, yet exciting, story. We loved pretending that we had apples up on top of us in our pictures. We also did a sequencing activity, putting the apple book in the order that the action takes place.
We conducted an apple taste test. Red delicious apples and Granny Smith apples tied at 5 each and Golden Delicious got 2 votes. Lots of kids liked all of them but had to pick their most favorite.
3 Year Old-Apples are Red
Today we learned about the color red. Almost everybody wore something red (except Miss Jennie who should read her own calendar.) We heard a story about the Apple Man. He has a surprise inside. Have your preschooler tell you about it. If you want to see it for yourself, cut an apple in half width-wise, not lengthwise.
And parents, don't you love those drums! :) I love being a preschool teacher!
4 Year Old-Shape Smarts
We know all our shapes, even crescent and octagon. We made shape necklaces and hats to celebrate!
4 Year Old-All About Me
Another fun thing that happened on our "All About Me" day was painting our faces on the mirror with shaving cream. Most jumped right in and didn't care about getting their hands dirty. But there were a few who just described what they wanted to be drawn to Miss Jennie and barely got close enough for the picture. :)

On Thursday, we talked all about ourselves. We got to learn about each other and why we should always love ourselves. We read about a pig in "I Like Me!." She said, "I'll always be me and I like that!"

1st Day of School-4 yr. old Class
We had a fabulous 1st day at school! We sang about Spot and the doggie in the window, we talked about why we come to preschool, we exercised our mouth muscles with our Speechercise and played inside and out!
We took a survey about whether we were excited to come to school or scared to come to school. The results were that 12 people were excited to come to school and 2 people were scared to come to school (Miss Jennie got to vote twice, she was excited and scared!)

What a great day! We sang about Spot, talked about why we come to preschool and played inside and out!
Quote of the day from Ben: Miss Jennie got the markers out to color our slinky dogs. Ben said, "Oh, I can't have these!" I know that markers are not the drawing instrument of choice at home. I assured Ben that he was allowed to use markers at preschool only. This was only after we talked about how we don't draw on people, the tables, our clothes, etc. :)
The Itty Bitty Bee Bash
We had so much fun at the Itty Bitty Bee Bash! I got to meet all of the kids that are coming to Busy Bee Preschool! Everybody got to go on a hunt to find things at preschool, play a toss game and make their own itty bitty bee to take home. Thanks for coming!
