What We Do At School

Playtime
We have fun every day at Busy Bee!  I believe that pretending and using your imagination are very important.  Play is really work for a child.  It teaches them social and creative skills.

Craft or Art Time
Crafts and art are used to strengthen a child's confidence in his or her small motor skills.  Each child does their own work if possible.  Consequently, the children's art projects may be a little messy but that makes them all the more precious!

Curriculum
We work consistently on our alphabet and numbers.  We learn many nursery rhymes throughout the year.  Nursery rhymes are a precursor to reading.  We work on phonemic and phonological awareness which are also precursores to reading.

We also learn about many other things such as personal safety, community values, and children around the world.

I follow the suggested Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines issued by the Utah State Office of Education.

Music Time
We sing and dance every day.  Some days, we play musical instruments and work on rhythms.  Listening to music and singing can enhance memory.  Music can also reinforce educational concepts. 

Plus, it's one of the greatest parts of the day!  It allows the children to get crazy and express themselves.

Field Trips
We go on a field trip once a month.  Field trips give children a glimpse at the world around them.

Be the Leader
Each student has a chance about once a month to be the leader of the class.  He/she helps with the Pledge of Allegiance, calendar time and other classroom functions.  He/she is also in charge of the snack that day.
